Knowledge = ability to make good choices. I will be writing a series of blog posts on toxic ingredients. Never take it for granted that if a product is available on the market that it is good for you. Many products are made with ingredients because they are economical or that they produce an artificial color, smell, or lather; not bassed on what is good for you or the environment. These posts will be brief, but will give you an idea about what to look for and avoid.
Look for this ingredient and BAN it from the products you purchase and use. It DOES make a difference.
SODIUM LAURYL SULFATE

Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS), is a foaming agent that is used in 90% of commercial personal care products. These products include toothpaste, shampoo and conditioners, and body washes.
However, SLS is so strong it is also used in car washes, garage floor cleaners and engine degreasers. The M.S.D.S, a government body, classifies SLS as a severe skin …irritant. In tests, animals exposed to SLS experience eye damage, central nervous system depression, laboured breathing, diarrhoea, severe skin irritation, and even death. I have stopped using all products with this ingredient in them. I have started making my own natural products, because I can’t stand all the chemicals used in most commercial soaps and other beauty products. I wish that more people were aware of what they put on their skin and hair. I have a blog with most of the homemade products I have made. Check it out!
