Handmade Christmas

One of my favorite things at Christmastime is getting a handmade gift.  The effort and time taken by someone to make a gift makes the receiver feel special {and loved}.  My sweet {Irish Twin} sister does this for us every year…neckwarmers, flaxies, bath tea bags, a trivet, pillowcases, and ornaments are just a few of the things she has made for us over the years.  And every year we anticipate and try to get it out of her what she is making.

I love it too, but seldom match the imagination and quality that she puts into her gifts.  Peppermint bark, chocolate dipped potato chips, and homemade kahlua is what I’ve come up with the last several years…I’m going soap this year! 🙂

And if you’re not so savvy with making gifts yourself….this time of year is fun because there are always a lot of events where crafters sell their handmade goodies at markets & fairs.  Here is a list of a few in the area….

Alcester Holiday Craft Fair, Saturday, Nov. 6 from 10 to 3 at the Alcester High School Gym {Irish Twins will be there!}

They will be accepting donations for the food pantry at the door…and will be pouring some of their new spiced holiday wine!
